My introduction to Dr Kwon was due to an urgent gall bladder removal surgery that I needed to undergo. I am grateful he was able to accommodate me despite his packed schedule. He walked me through the process and in a matter of hours, the surgery took place. I must mention this is not my first laparascopic surgery and I can say Dr Kwon’s technique is clean and impeccable!It is also worth mentioning that his Medical Receptionist, Sunni, is so lovely, accomodating, and genuinely cares.

I had a large hernia repair with associated muscle separation. From the first consult Dr Kwon was able to put mind at ease. He discussed the options available for repair. I eventually decided on the best course of action from the detailed information provided . This included photos and other important details. The operation took place at Nepean private. The operation was effective and will allow me to continue working in a heavy industry, without fear of recurrence or pain of a new hernia. I could not be happier with the outcome of the operation.

Our mum Carmen Xiberras recently underwent a major large Hernia keyhole surgery (2). From the beginning Dr Kwon has been so thorough and has shown the highest level of professionalism and throughout this entire process he has continually communicated everything exceptionally well to our 79 year old mum, my sister and I. Look, major surgery is no-one's favourite recreation, but if you need abdominal surgery, Dr Kwon is a top choice.The first reason is that he is very approachable, has a great sense of humour, and is extremely thorough in explaining what is needed, why, and how he will do it. For me, it meant I went into the surgery confident he knew what he was doing, and would do it in the best way. That trust is essential: for peace of mind, you need a surgeon you have confidence in - after all, you are trusting them with your life.But the most important reason is that he is a really good surgeon. I needed a double hernia repair (turned out I had had them for quite a while; I'm almost certain I can recall when I tore one, over 60 years ago). Since I had had two previous major abdominal surgeries for other issues, Dr Kwon was expecting the worst in terms of what he would find. He wasn't wrong. There were adhesions all over the place from the previous surgeries (I have the photos to prove it). What would normally be a half hour surgery took over one and a half hours. That must have taken immense concentration: one and a half hours where a single wrong move could be fatal. Thankfully, he did it. And he did it for a fixed fee, despite knowing ahead of time that this was probably what he was facing.The results are amazing. You expect some pain and debility after surgery, but it really wasn't much. I didn't need or use any painkillers after the surgery, and slept fine that evening. I did have a couple of paracetamol the following morning - for my arthritis! I'm in my 70s, yet I was able to do a kilometer walk the afternoon of the following day, and 5 kilometers in hilly country the day after that. It confirms that Dr Kwon had done an amazing job, despite the complications, in minimising physical trauma. Six weeks later, I feel fitter than I have in 20 years. In fact my biggest problem is remembering that I still have limitations, and not to lift more than 10Kg (Dr Kwon's schedule goes up to 20Kg in a couple of weeks, which will be a bit easier to remember).Added 2024: now a year later, I'm back to full duties, including construction, on our bush block. That involves carrying 40Kg items around on a steep block, shovelling hundreds of kilos of earth, etc. I have had no problems at all with the hernia surgery.Dr Kwon has my very strongest recommendation. You may, if you are very lucky, find his equal, but I really doubt you will find anyone better, no matter how hard you search.

I recently had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy performed by Dr Kwon. Thankfully all went well and no issues were identified. Dr Kwon has carried out these procedures for me in the past, as well as the removal of my gall bladder a few years ago. In every case he was professional and pleasant to deal with, explained what was happening and answered all my questions. My post op recoveries have been good and I’m sure this has to do with Dr Kwon’s surgical abilities. He is a likeable man who genuinely cares for his patients (and is clearly a very good surgeon). I would be happy to have Dr Kwon treat members of my family and so I am happy to recommend Dr Kwon to anyone looking for a great GI surgeon.

Dr Kwon is an excellent practitioner. He is very welcoming and understanding and listens plus explained in detail what is happening and why. He followed up on everything he said he would do and provided outstanding documentation after ever consult / procedure so we always knew exactly what was happens and what the results were. I had my Gallblander removed by Dr Kwon, it was hassle free experience and he arrange everything in a very short space of time, I went home the same day and had basicly no pain or side effects and he followed up to make sure everything was fine. Dr Kwon had an amazing bedside manner and alway made me feel comfortable. I was so happy with his service that I had him look after my wife who is extremely ill due to cancer, he expedited her procedure due to urgently and went out of his way to assist, Dr Kwon communicated and consulted with other specialists who were looking after my wifes care and made sure he and everyone else knew exactly what was happening. I went into surgery in Dec 2021 for an Umbilical hernia repair and divarication of the recti with Dr Kwon, I did my research and had appointments with other surgeons before making my decision. What an outcome, From the first appointment Dr Kwon was calm, professional and very detailed on what the surgery entailed. On the day of the operation everything was explained to me again. Post Op Dr Kwon checked in and went over what he had done and explained the next several weeks’ rehab.
